For everyone else in the world, there's October. For those of us who live and work in Salem, October is a little different.
We watch the city we love transform into one of the most popular Halloween destinations in the country. If you've ever visited during Halloween season, you know there's nothing that compares.
At Witch City Wicks, October is the pinnacle of our year. We prep our Salem shop months in advance for our busiest retail season. We welcome over 20,000+ visitors through our 800 sq ft shop doors in October. Lines form outside to keep the shopping comfortable inside. Its endless restocking and deliveries to make sure our visitors find the right keepsake to bring home with them. And it's keeping the shop staff happy with energy drinks, snacks and an lots of Halloween candy.

And this year, because apparently October wasn't busy enough already, we decided to add a warehouse move to the mix.
Behind the Scenes: A New Chapter for Witch City Wicks
One thing we've learned after all this time is that growth rarely happens at a convenient time. This month, while navigating our busiest season of our year, we've been preparing for a move into a new warehouse space.
Moving an entire candle-making operation is no small undertaking, especially when the shop is in full Halloween mode. But it's an exciting and necessary step forward and that will give us more room to grow, create, and continue doing what we love.
Why did we make the move during out busiest month? There was a small window between our Halloween shipping quieting down and our holiday shipping season ramping up. Making the move now provides us a few weeks to set everything up before the next phase of our busy season.
We're looking forward to sharing more of our new space and the work that happens behind the scenes.
What's Next: Fifteen Years and Counting
As October comes to a close, we're already looking toward another milestone. This year marks 15 years of Witch City Wicks. Fifteen years of creating fragrances, learning how to run and build a business, making tons of mistakes, figuring things out on the fly, and evolving as a creative and a leader along the way.
When I began making candles, I couldn't have imagined ow Witch City Wicks would grow. We didn't get where without amazing customer support and building out a great team. We've been working a few special things to celebrate this milestone.
